Understanding Causes of Death within the TBI Model Systems (Verbal Autopsy)

This qualitative study uses an in-depth phone interview with the next of kin to learn more about the final year of life for participants in our TBI Model System study that have passed away. Death certificates can often be vague or lacking in the information reported about the primary or secondary cause of death. Having this “verbal autopsy” provides us the opportunity to learn more about what may have contributed to a participant's death in their last year of life.
