Study investigated the relationship between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) cortisol and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) as gene- and age-dependent biomarkers to predict mortality in 117 patients sampled within 6 days after severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). Researchers also determined associations between CSF cortisol and BDNF with 6-month mortality.
