As a Spinal Cord Injury Model System (SCIMS), we focus on the full range of needs of people with spinal cord injuries by providing all levels of care, and by conducting innovative research and education. U-M SCIMS operates within the University of Michigan Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, ranked one of the best in the nation. The U-M SCIMS has established a collaborative partnership with the Ann Arbor Center for Independent Living (AACIL) since 1985.
