Abstract:

Article reviews published literature as well as information from the Rehabilitation Services Administration 911 and the Social Security Administration Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach databases to describe return-to-work outcomes over the past 2 decades for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Over the years, there has been a shift toward examining employment as interactions between the needs and motivations of those with TBI and the use of supported employment, rather than the symptoms or conditions. Implications and recommendations for research, policy, and employment practices are discussed.
