Abstract:
Article reviewing previous studies of the relationship between employment outcome and inaccurate self-awareness in persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI), and presenting results of a new investigation of this topic. In the new study, data were collected on 7 predictor variables from 66 persons in a post-acute program for TBI, and comparisons were made with later employment outcome. In addition, the comparability of 2 methods of measuring impaired awareness was examined. The authors found strong support for a positive relationship between accurate self-awareness and favorable employment outcome at follow-up.
