Abstract:

Study examined the relationship between outcome following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the distance from the patient's residence to both the physician follow-up and to prescribed outpatient therapy. Participants were interviewed approximately 1 month after discharge from inpatient rehabilitation to collect information regarding living situation, location and nature of outpatient therapies, follow-up care with physicians, medical complications experienced since discharge, and treatment compliance. Analyses revealed that the majority of the participants experienced zero medical complications and reported 100 percent compliance with treatment. No significant associations were found to exist among outcome and distance variables.
