Abstract:
Study evaluates the utility of early cognitive assessment to predict productivity outcome after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Three hundred eighty-eight adults with TBI were administered neuropsychological tests on emergence from posttraumatic amnesia (PTA) during their inpatient stay. Analysis revealed that preinjury productivity status, duration of PTA, education level, and early cognitive status each made significant contributions to predicting productivity status. Findings support the use of neuropsychological evaluations after resolution of PTA.
