Abstract:

Study evaluated annual trends in charges and lengths of stay for patients with brain injury in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation settings over a 7 year period. Average daily rehabilitation charges and acute care charges increased each year while length of stay decreased, with annual reductions averaging 2.25 days. The steady decline in length of stay raises concerns about the future availability of health care services to person with brain injury.
