Abstract:
Describes the characteristics of geriatric rehabilitation programs from the point of view of a psychologist. Geriatric patients, particularly those suffering from stroke or orthopedic injuries, were prevalent at the 180 accredited inpatient facilities responding to a survey. Neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy were the most common work services provided by psychologists. Coursework, supervised training, and continuing education were consistently related to satisfaction with geriatric work experiences.
