Abstract:
Study to determine the effects of continuous passive motion (CPM) on the amount of knee flexion in patients with total knee arthroplasty in a rehabilitation setting. The 51 participants in the study were divided into two groups with one group receiving CPM for 5 consecutive hours per day plus physical therapy (PT) and the other group receiving only PT. Knee flexion measurements were taken at admission, on the third and seventh day, and upon discharge. Results found no significant difference in passive range of motion between the two groups.
