Abstract:

Article reviews the clinical activities of the Model Spinal Cord Injury System (MSCIS). Clinical benefits derived from MSCIS funding are classified into 5 different areas: (1) shift of spinal cord care from individual centers to a systems approach, (2) data collection as a stimulus for improved clinical care, (3) service comprehensiveness to improve clinical care, (4) research as a stimulus for improved clinical care, and (5) dissemination of MSCIS research findings for educational purposes and to improve care provided by all SCI centers.
