The purpose of the study is to develop and test an online health promotion program for people aging with SCI. Working closely with a community advisory board of people with SCI, two senior advisory with lived experience, and a medical advisory board, we will develop an 8-week group program, Living Longer and Stronger with SCI (LLS for short). The LLS program will be tested using a randomized controlled trial with three times of testing: pre-intervention, immediate post-intervention, and 6-month follow-up (4-months post-intervention). We plan to enroll 180 people with traumatic SCI from across the US. Participants will be randomly assigned to the LLS or control condition. We will examine the impact of the LLS intervention on our primary study outcomes (physical, psychological, and social health). We also will examine potential mechanisms through which the intervention may enhance physical, psychological, and social health.
