Peter C. Esselman, MD is Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine and Chief of Rehabilitation Medicine at Harborview Medical Center. He is also Chair of the Department. As the physiatrist in the Burn Center, he works with the burn team and is the attending physician for individuals with burn injuries on the inpatient rehabilitation unit. This relationship ensures a smooth transition from acute to rehabilitation care. He was an investigator in the previous UW Burn Model System grant and was the lead author on the NIDRR-supported "white paper" reviewing the state of the science in burn rehabilitation published in 2006. Dr. Esselman will serve in a supervisory role to Dr. Wiechman, the primary investigator on the project, Expanded Delivery Model for Burn Rehabilitation.
