The objective of this study is to conduct a trial of the efficacy of a formal, 12-week program of aerobic training in promoting return to fitness and improving adherence to an exercise program. Particpants’ baseline aerobic capacity will serve as the control for secular trends. Outcome measures will include the recovery of aerobic capacity, and change in absolute and relative strength (hamstring, quadriceps, hand grip), and Self-Selected Walking Speed (Silverberg, 2000). Psychological measures will include intentions to adhere and self-reported ratings of mood, pain, sleep and disability.
