This study is investigating a non-invasive method of brain stimulation (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation- tDCS) for the relief of chronic pain and itch due to a previous burn injury. This is a double-blind, randomized controlled trial. During tDCS, we use a small, handheld, battery-powered device to induce a low level of current between two locations on the scalp. In previous studies this has been shown to decrease levels of pain and itch in patients. This study takes about 12 months to complete, with a total of 22 study visits. In addition to tDCS, the study includes questionnaires and long-term follow up about burn survivors’ levels of pain, general quality of life, and mood. This study is open to adults with chronic pain that is moderate or severe due to a previous burn injury.
