Abstract:
The primary goal of The MAPS Project is to determine whether specific exercises enhance activity and mobility in individuals with subacute more incomplete spinal cord injury. Given the expected improvement in mobility and functional independence after high intensity locomotor and strength training, a secondary goal is to evaluate changes in impairments in neuromuscular and skeletal structure and function commonly observed after SCI. Further, we will evaluate the extent to which these interventions contribute to enhanced community mobility and participation.
